History of CAP Catering Services
CAP Catering Services is Community Action Partnership of Lake County’s first social enterprise. It was established in 2005 when Community Action Partnership of Lake County opened its newly built administrative and Head Start facility on 4.43 acres at 1200 W. Glen Flora Avenue in Waukegan, Illinois. The new building included a commercial kitchen for meal preparation and a 200-capacity multi-purpose room.

Within our first year, our event team began transforming the multi-purpose venue into beautiful spaces for all occasions. See Venues. Our reputation over the years gives us approved vendor status with area County Clubs and Wedding Venues.

In 2019, CAP Catering Services began work on CAP Banquets and Dining on Genesee, a 250-capacity venue space. Our grand opening was February 2020.

Pandemic Pause in Business
March 9, 2020, JB Pritzker, Governor of Illinois, declared all counties in the State of Illinois as a disaster area. Effective March 21, 2020 at 5:00 pm and duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation, restaurants and other facilities that prepare and serve food, could operate for food consumption off-premises only.

Back-to-Business
CAP Catering Services reopened late 2021 with on and off-site catering. We closed the Glen Flora location and expanded CAP Catering Services’ CAP Catering Banquets and Dining on Genesee. The CAP Catering Banquets & Dining on Genesee location is back to business!
